Robert A. Milton
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Robert Milton was appointed Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Aviation Holdings Inc. (ACE) on September 30, 2004.
Mr. Milton held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada from August 1999 until December 2004. In 2003-2004, Mr. Milton led Air Canada's restructuring which has positioned the airline to compete effectively in the current airline environment. From December 2004, until the end of 2007, in addition to his role at ACE, Mr. Milton served as Chairman of Air Canada, Jazz, Aeroplan, and ACTS.
The formation of ACE was a key element of Air Canada's transformation into an air transportation services company which Mr. Milton envisioned as a portfolio of successful businesses, each pursuing independent business plans and unlocking hidden shareholder value. ACE has successfully taken three businesses public - Aeroplan, Jazz and Air Canada, and also completed the monetization of ACTS.
Prior to joining Air Canada, he was a founding partner in Air Eagle Holdings Inc. and an independent commercial aviation consultant to British Aerospace. He started his career with Air Canada in 1992 on a consulting basis and assumed increasingly responsible positions in cargo operations, scheduling, product design, advertising, inflight service and marketing until his appointment as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1996. Mr. Milton was a 1998 recipient of the prestigious "Top 40 under 40" award recognizing 40 Canadians who have achieved significant levels of success in leadership and innovation before age 40. He graduated in 1983 from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management.
Mr. Milton served as Chair of the International Air Transport Association's Board of Governors in 2005-2006.
He is past Chairman of the Georgia Tech Advisory Board and currently serves as a Trustee of the Georgia Tech Foundation. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC, and Lead Director of Air Lease Corporation.
