Chantal Baril
President and CEO, Air Canada Ground Handling Services

 

Chantal Baril was appointed President and CEO of Air Canada Ground Handling Services in May 2005.

Ms. Baril joined Air Canada in 1985 as a flight attendant and subsequently held various In-Flight managerial positions. In 1993, she joined the Airports Branch at Dorval Airport in Montreal holding various management positions in loss control, passenger service operations and manpower planning. With her expertise in manpower planning, she became Director, Resource Planning in July 2000.

In October 2001, Ms. Baril was named Senior Director, Airport Operations leading a team providing support functions to all North American airports including : procedures for passenger services, ramp and baggage operations; ground service equipment, securing and administrating ground handling contracts and resource planning.

By January 2004, Ms. Baril returned to Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport (formerly known as Dorval) as General Manager, Eastern Canada, responsible for all airport operations from Ottawa to St. John's, Newfoundland.

Since 1999, Ms. Baril has been extensively involved in labour negotiations with the CAW and IAMAW unions covering airport employees.

Prior to joining Air Canada, Ms. Baril was a translator for Steinberg Inc. She is a graduate of Université de Montréal with a B.A (Languages, 1982), and a M.A (Translation, 1994).
